PRIORY LINKS:

ALL dogs on leads are welcome at Birkenhead Priory (c.1150 to 1536) and this event is in honour of Prior Henri de Becheton, who successfully claimed the right to keep his beloved greyhounds and other dogs at Birkenhead Priory in 1348. During this period dogs were not allowed to be kept as they interfered with the hunt, which was all important at this time, so this was quite an achievement for Prior Henri.
