Discover more on a Priory tour!

Learn all about the black monks of Birkenhead, the first “ferry cross the Mersey” service from 1150 to 1536 and explore our beautiful, original buildings and ruins. You can also climb St Mary’s Tower for spectacular views of the Liverpool waterfront, Cammell Laird’s shipyards and the surrounding area.

Timed tours are available at:

WEDNESDAY – FRIDAY: 1.30pm and 2.30pm

SATURDAY & SUNDAY: 11.00am, 1.00pm and 2.00pm.

Tours are FREE, however donations are warmly welcomed to support the continued work of Birkenhead Priory. Groups of 8 or more must book in advance by emailing info@thebirkenheadpriory.org

During SUMMER opening hours: Last entry to the Birkenhead Priory site is 4.30pm. Closes 5.00pm.

During WINTER opening hours: Last entry to the Birkenhead Priory site is 3.30pm. Closes 4.00pm
